1,516 law firms worldwide practising Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Narrow down by city to find a firm near you.
Public-private partnership (PPP) lawyers advise on long-term contracts in which a private company designs, builds, finances or runs public infrastructure. Think of toll roads, hospitals, schools, prisons, water plants and energy networks. Clients include the procuring authority, bidding consortia, construction contractors, facility operators and the banks that lend to the project company.
Each country sets its own rules. Some have a dedicated PPP statute or concession law, others rely on general procurement codes, and the EU adds its directive on concession contracts. A PPP lawyer will check how the tender works, who carries demand and construction risk, what happens on early termination and how disputes are resolved. International arbitration is common when foreign sponsors are involved.
Fees are normally hourly or capped per phase, because bid work runs for months and involves hundreds of documents. Contingency arrangements are restricted or banned in many civil law countries and are almost unheard of on the public side. Sponsors sometimes agree a discounted rate with a bonus payable only if their consortium wins.
Deadlines matter. Procurement challenges often have to be filed within days or a few weeks of the award decision, and the bid timetable itself cannot be moved. Before hiring, ask which PPP transactions the firm has closed, whether it has acted for authorities as well as bidders, and who will sit at the negotiating table.
