852 law firms worldwide practising Domain Disputes (UDRP). Narrow down by city to find a firm near you.
Domain dispute lawyers help brand owners recover domain names registered in bad faith and help registrants defend names they use legitimately. The main tool is the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy, known as UDRP, which applies to generic top level domains such as .com, .net and .org. Typical cases involve cybersquatting, typosquatting and phishing sites that copy a brand.
UDRP complaints are decided by providers such as the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, usually within about two months and without hearings. A complainant must show a confusingly similar domain name, no legitimate interest of the holder and bad faith registration and use. Country code domains follow their own policies, for example Nominet's DRS for .uk, DENIC rules and German courts for .de, and Afnic's procedures for .fr. Court action remains available alongside.
Domain disputes suit fixed fee pricing, and many firms quote a flat fee per complaint plus the provider's filing charge. Hourly billing applies when a case moves to court. Contingency fees are uncommon and are not permitted in several European countries.
There is no formal limitation period for a UDRP complaint, but delay can weaken a bad faith argument. A respondent has only 20 days to reply after notification. Ask a domain name lawyer about their record before WIPO panels, whether they handle ccTLD procedures, and how they monitor future registrations. Filter by country or city below to compare firms and contact them directly.
